The two most iconic and longest bike trails in the region are the Koblenz -> Trier (200km+) and Saarbrucken -> Trier (100km+). These well worth to do once per year but with some modifications.

Both of the aforementioned cities are the ugliest ghetto cities in Germany full of crackheads and bums that’s exactly the reason we will skip the cities and start one train stop out. In case of Saarbrucken there is also a 10km long industrial area after Saarlouis with scrapyards, chemical plants, power plants, we will skip this “beauty” as well all together.

The route back to Wasserbillig is about 120 km, with keeping a 20km/h rate (easy biking) we could do it in 6 hours but while going through the region why not make some stops at the iconic places like the Saarslife or Saarburg. From Saarburg it’s only about 20km back to WB so we can start making some leisure drink stops along the river 😉
Please bring at least 2 spare inner tubes (or for tubeless bikes repair kit). As I recall almost the whole road is asphalt so perfect for roadbiking. No need to bring more than 1 bottle of water as there will be gas stations everywhere where we can buy water.
Sadly the Trier train will be still shutdown on the planned date, this will not stop us, we take the mentioned train to Wasserbillig and do an easy 8km bike to Konz where we take the final train down to Saarbrucken (which is only 1 hour). Please note in Germany you must buy separate ticket for your bike.
